The pitfall of the famous voice
In the studio, we often see it happen: a brand chooses a voice purely based on popularity or the marketing director's personal preference. But a famous voice always carries a baggage of previous associations. If that association does not align with your product's values, you will miss the mark entirely.
When we listened to the trial version with the client, it quickly became clear. The selected voice sounded too grand and too theatrical for the video's down-to-earth message. We had to go back to the drawing board and search for a voice that matched the project's identity, without distracting the listener.
Into the studio: finding the right nuance
Behind the scenes of our platform, we work with a select group of 92 professional voice actors. Our voices speak their native language, including Flemish, French (BE), German, and English. To find the right tone for the client, we presented three specific voices, each with a very distinct character:
- Birgit: an experienced voice actor who provided off-screen broadcasting work for years, including for Canvas and Eén on Belgian television. Her voice immediately conveys a calm, reliable atmosphere.
- Brecht: as a DJ at JOE, he has a warm timbre that immediately inspires trust in the listener.
- Kaja: a voice from Germany who sounds very friendly and soft, perfect for projects needing to convince audiences across borders.
Ultimately, we chose a warm, natural approach that speaks to the listener on an equal footing.
