What to look for when selecting your voice
When choosing the right voice for your radio campaign, you should not rush. It is not about what you personally find a beautiful voice, but about what works for the listener sitting in the car or cooking in the kitchen.
When selecting, pay attention to the following:
- Listen to specific commercial demos, not just general voice-overs.
- Choose a natural accent that matches the region where your campaign is running.
- Pay attention to the voice actor's flexibility to quickly convey different emotions.
In our database of 92 professional voices, you will find Mark from Belgium, for example, an experienced Flemish voice who brings the perfect balance between maturity and credibility for commercials.
The director's tip for a natural recording
As a voice director, I see it daily: a voice actor trying too hard to sound "commercial." That is counterproductive and sounds unnatural. My most important tip for the studio is the physical posture and the smile before starting. Have the actor stand during the recording. That opens the chest and gives the voice natural power without needing to shout. Also, ask the actor to consciously smile for a second just before the first sentence begins. You will immediately hear that physical smile reflected in the microphone, creating a warm and inviting tone.
How the price of a commercial voice is structured
Budget transparency prevents surprises afterwards. When you book a commercial voice over, the price always consists of two parts. First, there is the basic fee for the recording itself, known as the session fee. This covers the studio time and the voice actor's work. Additionally, you pay a buy-out for the usage and rights. This buy-out depends on the medium where the ad will be heard and the campaign's duration. For non-commercial work, such as an internal corporate video, we apply rates per word or per project. This way, you know exactly what to expect beforehand.
Why authenticity beats the typical radio voice
The era of shouty, overly enthusiastic radio voices is behind us. Consumers see right through that. They want to be spoken to by a real person. Our clients, such as Bart and Cindy, confirm that this human approach works. Cindy recently wrote in her review: "Very smooth service. Ordered yesterday, delivered today! Excellent!". It is that combination of speed and the authenticity of the voices that determines the final result. By choosing authenticity, you truly build trust with your target audience.
