What determines the cost of a dubbing voice-over?
Many producers focus too much on a video's running time when they request a quote. They almost always assume that a dubbing voice-over price purely depends on the time a voice actor spends in front of the microphone. In the studio, I often see the opposite happen: the actual recording is frequently the quickest part of the whole process. What really sets the cost is almost always the preparation, technical synchronisation, and the final usage rights.
If you want to bring a character to life in another language, you need a very different approach than for a standard voice-over script. Below, I will guide you through the steps that explain how we calculate these costs.
