Voice talent is the internationally recognised term for an individual who professionally records scripts. In Dutch, we use the terms voice actor, voice-over, or voice talent.
The term comes from the English-speaking production world. Here, 'talent' has long referred to the people in front of the microphone or camera, without judging their level of talent. So, you might see it used as a job title in a brief or contract.
Related terms you might see in the same documents include 'voice artist' (often for animation and character work), 'narrator' (for longer forms like documentaries and audiobooks), and 'announcer' (for radio and television). These terms indicate different types of work, not different skill levels.
For a Belgian project, it is more practical to brief in Dutch. Specify the genre, tone, and language variant you are looking for. This tells us more than just a job title.
